Main research topics
Development of new quantum chemistry methods:
Construction of libraries of extremely localized molecular orbitals;
Embedding methods based on extremely localized molecular orbitals;
Fast and accurate techniques for the determination of noncovalent interactions in systems of biological interest;
New quantum computing algorithms in the framework of the Valence Bond theory.
Development of new computational techniques for quantum crystallography:
Methods for the determination of “experimental” wave functions consistent with X-ray diffraction data;
Exploitation of the X-ray restrained wave function approach in the context of Density Functional Theory (DFT);
Extension of the Hirshfeld atom refinement (HAR) technique to macromolecular systems and to non-molecular crystals.
